Astaro Security Applications

Astaro‘s all-in-one appliances with their security applications are composed of three major, modular components. Like this, they can meet the individual demands for more comprehensive email, web and network security.

A firewall is required today for protection against threats from the Internet. As a result, stateful inspection firewalls paired with security proxies for certain protocols is considered standard protection. However, hackers have meanwhile developed their assault scenarios so much further that only a few can be detected by firewalls alone. Therefore, the use of intrusion detection and prevention systems has become indispensable. Only these systems are able to detect (detection) and block (prevention) assaults which are hidden deep within data packages, by looking at the contents of a packet rather than simply the port it is communicating over like a normal port-based firewall.

Many companies also want to safely connect their offices together via the Internet or allow their mobile employees secure access to the company network. For this reason, VPN gateways have become widely distributed in recent years.

All these functionalities are integrated in the Astaro Network Security module. Furthermore, several additional security functions are provided, e.g., numerous authentication options, traffic shaping, hot standby, load balancing, caching, reporting and much more.
